Do you have a microblading or cosmetic tattoo that you've outgrown and want to remove? Well don't despair, saline lightening may be for you!
Saline tattoo removal is a procedure that uses a non-acidic, high salt and fruit based solution to achieve the ultimate lightening results.
The saline solution is implanted into the skin and uses the process of osmosis to persuade the skin cells to release the ink or pigment. The pigment then becomes trapped in a scab and as the scab flakes away, some of the pigment goes with it. Think of it as reverse tattooing or microblading, where we are pulling pigment out of the body instead of implanting it.
At Arch&Co, we use the saline lightening product LI-FT. LI-FT is a top recommended saline lightening product, with intensive training, effective results and safety protocols. LI-FT is made of purified water, salt, lemon and orange seed extracts.
Laser tattoo removal uses a short pulse light to penetrate into the skin to break apart the pigment. The pigment is then pushed into the blood stream and collected by the lymphatic system.
- cannot target all colours with a single laser
- can cause scar tissue and brow coverups may not be possible
- can remove hair permanently
- cannot remove titanium dioxide (white pigment)
- no numbing
- pushes pigment into the blood stream to be absorbed into the body
- recognizes pigment colours uniformly
- pushes the pigment out of the body
- less painful
- a brow coverup can be done once healed
The number of sessions needed differs from client to client and depends on various factors. The location, age, pigment used, skin quality, depth, colour and size will all make a difference in the number of sessions needed. Black ink will take longer to remove.
WAIVER/CONSENT FORM - A waiver and consent form will be filled out at the start of your appointment. Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment time to complete this.
NUMB - A numbing cream (5% lidocaine ointment) will be applied to the treatment area for your treatment. Numbing takes 20 minutes to make you as comfortable as possible during your appointment.
PROCEDURE - A small tattoo machine is used to implant the saline solution into your skin. The saline solution breaks up the pigment and pulls the colour to the surface of the skin. 3-4 passes of each brow is usually done.
FINISHING TOUCHES - The last step of the lightening process is to let the LI-FT solution sit on your brows for 10 minutes and work its magic. This ensures the product is fully saturated into the area.
The complete appointment can take up to 1.5 hours. After your appointment, you can continue life as normal, each appointment comes with a complete aftercare kit.
Saline lightening can take 6-8 weeks to fully heal. During that time, your brows will scab and the area may stay pink. After the 8 week mark, you are able to come in for addition sessions if needed. Its important to stay patient during your lightening sessions.
